Here’s where you come in:

As Reg. Humanitarian Emergency Affairs (HEA) Director you will provide strategic leadership in the implementation of HEA operations in the SAP region depending on the emergency response level.

You will be responsible for ensuring that HEA operations in preparedness, response, mitigation and transition management meets both WV and international standards. A central component of the role is to connect NO and RO staff, capacity, programming, needs and innovation based on context similarities and networks, and also to provide strong Disaster Management and Humanitarian leadership to a diverse portfolio of functional and sectoral areas. You will also facilitate collaboration for innovation and Child Well Being (CWB) impact, especially as it relates to disaster risk reduction and resilience. The focus of the role is both strategy-informed and demand-driven.

Requirements include:

  • Graduate degree qualification and/or professional qualification in Development Studies, Management or MBA.
  • At least 8-10 year experience in Program Management in a complex, international organization preferable in NGO context.
  • Minimum of 5-7 year experience in handling Humanitarian Emergency Response.
  • Strong empirical knowledge of Humanitarian Sector including humanitarian charter, laws and standards.
  • Excellent oral and written English skills.
  • The position requires ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 35% of the time.
