PURPOSE OF THE POST *:*

Under supervision of the Chief, Field Office, and in collaboration with the Chief of Health and Nutrition section, contributes to the Nutrition and Health planning, administration, implementation, monitoring and the evaluation of project activities, including teamwork and capacity building.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  1. Collects and analyzes data on health and nutrition in the Qamishli area of responsibility for the Situation Analysis and planning management, monitoring and evaluation purposes. Analyzes programme implementation reports and evaluates against established programme recommendations and plans of action. Contributes to the Emergency Preparedness and Response Planning (EPRP), prepares tables, graphs and other statistical data. Reports outcome of analysis and proposes corrective actions.
  2. Works directly with local partners, communities and vulnerable groups to implement the related programme interventions including high level advocacy and related communication efforts to advance the health and Nutrition programme, in collecting, collating and analyzing data to inform strategies.
  3. Undertakes ongoing visits to UNICEF project sites, IDP locations, assesses local conditions and resources, and monitors UNICEF inputs. Communicates with local counterpart authorities on project feasibility and effectiveness including monitoring the flow of supply and other non-supply assistance.Undertakes follow-up action on programme implementation activities, including strengthening existing health and nutrition information systems, supporting surveys and disaggregated data down to district level and disseminating evidence based findings and prepares relevant reports. Drafts changes in programme work plans as required.
  4.   5. Attends technical coordination and emergency meetings, prepares notes and undertakes follow-up action and coordination related to programme implementation and monitoring.
  6. Assists in identification and selection of technical supplies and equipment and facilitate procurement services, ensuring in-country logistics and follow up on appropriate utilization of UNICEF supplies by the end users.
  7. Assists in the preparation of the zonal programme recommendation by drafting CPSS, PSS and other relevant documentation ensuring accuracy and consistency with established rules and regulations. Maintains the computerized programme system database and submits relevant reports.
  8. Selects and compiles training and orientation materials for those involved in programme implementation, including donor and media visits.
  9. Evaluates and analyzes financial and supply reports to ensure appropriateness of documentation, expenditures are within allotments, data is consistent with PIDB. Reports to the Supervisor and/or Head of Office the outcome of reviews.
  10. Drafts relevant sections of reports (required for donors, management, annual reports, etc.)

Minimum qualifications:

  1. a) EDUCATION:

University degree in Social Sciences, Medicine, nutrition and/ or public health or related technical field.

  1. b) WORK EXPERIENCE:

Two years progressively responsible professional experience in programme design, administration, monitoring and evaluation or related field.

  1. c) LANGUAGES: Fluency in English and Arabic required.
