PURPOSE:
Under the supervision of the Nutrition Specialist, responsible for contribution to support the design, planning, monitoring and evaluation of emergency nutrition responses, situation analysis and progress reporting, and commitment for enhancement of teamwork and capacity building, in support of achievement of planned objectives of the nutrition work plan, aligned with humanitarian response plan (HRP).
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the efforts to ensure the availability of accurate, complete and up-to-date information required for effective nutrition programme and project design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
Supports the nutrition programme delivery and coordinate with the Emergency officer and the emergency unit to consolidate convoy's supplies list based on OCHA initial assessments, previous mission reports and open media sources.
Participate in convoys and coordinate with the WHO and WFP during visits and submit a report for the section and prepare actions and follow up on these actions.
Collect and compile data and information to prepare progress reports related to nutrition emergency responses in hard-to-reach and accessible areas in order to promote effective knowledge and information sharing.
Assists in identification and selection of Nutrition supplies and equipment. Follows up on delivery of cash assistance and liquidation of advances and proper planning, delivery and use of supply component of the project, and contribute to the cash and supply forecast.
Participate in trainings, workshops and events to supports UNICEF efforts in scaling up the nutrition capacity of government and NGO staff and volunteers.
Conduct monitoring visits on the projects supported by UNICEF to evaluate partner's performance, identify the gaps and follow-up on addressing challenges facing programme implementation.
Qualifications and Experience:
Education : A University Degree or higher in nutrition, public health, nutritional epidemiology, global/international health and nutrition, health/nutrition research, policy and/or management, health sciences, nutritional epidemiology or other health related science field is required.
Work experience:
- A year of professional experience in nutrition, public health, nutrition planning and management and/or in relevant areas of maternal, infant and child health/nutrition care at the international level and/or in a developing country is required.
- Experience in health/nutrition program/project development in UN system agency or organization is an asset.
- Knowledge in skills on Microsoft Office (word, excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work in multinational environment.
- Ability to perform under pressure
Languages:
- Fluency in English is required.
- Knowledge of another official UN language or a local language is an asset
