Background
The CADRI Partnership is an UN-led interagency initiative that delivers customized capacity development support in disaster risk reduction (DRR), including preparedness for emergency response, to countries at risk. It is composed of 12 members: UNDP, OCHA, UNICEF, WFP, FAO and WHO as Executive Partners, and UNESCO, UNITAR, WMO, UNOPS, IFRC, WB/GFDRR as Observer.
The CADRI Partnership proposes a range of capacity development services including a methodology for assessing national capacities in DRR, the facilitation of multi-stakeholders' engagement to prioritize investment in capacity development and develop national plans, the provision of technical assistance to implement selected capacity development activities and the delivery of training.
The objective of the retreat is to lay the foundation for the development of a knowledge management strategy for CADRI partners to ensure that the knowledge produced is consolidated, relevant, actionable and accessible, in order to enable informed decision making for managing and reducing disaster risks.

Purpose of the Assignment and Assignment Tasks
The consultant will have individual meetings with CADRI agencies and observers as well as UNISDR prior to the retreat to gather their views and recommendations on the role of the UN System and IFRC to strengthen knowledge management for DRR.
The consultant will develop a workshop programmed and methodology to bring participants to identify:
Generic training modules on disaster risk reduction, sector modules,
DRR guidelines, sector guidelines, mainstreaming guidelines tools
2. Solutions to consolidate Agency specific offer of learning and capacity development services
Consolidate offer of training modules (model of UN CC Learn)
Consolidate offer of technical expertise to support implementation of CADRI recommendations
3. Solutions to enhance planning and delivery of capacity development services at country level
4. Solutions to disseminate CADRI Partnership knowledge (findings and lessons learnt)

Duration and Location
The knowledge management retreat is tentatively plannedfor Monday 12th December 2016 at UNICEF Geneva. The consultancy is for 10 working days between(5-16 December 2016), itwill be home based requiring one travel to Geneva for the retreat.
Qualifications of Successful Candidate
Education
Advanced University degree in International Relations, Public Administration/Public Policy, Humanitarian Affairs, Development, Social Sciences, or a related technical field.
