PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

World Vision is seeking a Project Officer to provide coordination in project development, planning, implementation and monitoring in Syria. Provide day-to-day management to achieve high quality results in line with acceptable project norms relevant to the established goals, objectives and operating policies of the project and WV. Supervise the implementation activities of the grant in relation to project goals and objectives, monthly activity schedule, timing of expenditures, budgets, etc.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Major Activities

  • Provide coordination for overall Project management ensuring compliance to humanitarian, organizational and donor standards in beneficiary identification, implementation plans, documentation, reporting and accountability.
  • Coordinate operations under the project with relevant functions, such as programs, sectors, finance, logistics and procurement, administration, human resources, safety and security, communications.
  • Ensure that all documentation & filing system are in order.
  • Develop quarterly, semi and final reports.
  • Any other task required by supervisor

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

The following knowledge, skills, and abilities may be acquired through a combination of formal schooling, self-education, prior experience, or on-the-job training:

  • Bachelor or Post Graduate University degree in International Development or other related majors.
  • Experience in remote management.
  • Knowledge of Syria Specific context and Cross-Border response.
  • A minimum of 1-3 years operational humanitarian experience with minimum of 1 years in a leadership role in an emergency context.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of International Human Rights Law, International Humanitarian Law, Refugee Law, the relevant positions of the UN, ICRC and major NGOs on protection of civilians in particular of IDPs, women and children, the codes of conduct, the Humanitarian Charter, The Sphere Project, etc.
  • Proven experience in training, including development of training materials.
  • Essential: Strong English communication skills (oral and written)
  • Desirable: Good working knowledge of Arabic and Turkish (oral and written)
  • Cultural sensitivity and adaptability
  • Strong communication skills with ability to express ideas and concepts clearly and persuasively with senior members of the humanitarian community as well as with field practitioners.
  • Excellent networking skills.
  • High degree of negotiation and persuasion skills.
