PURPOSE OF POSITION:
To implement, and monitor the WASH and health interventions within World Vision’s Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) program in the Bekaa, with the goal to improve the public health of the target population.

I- Project Implementation
Follow up with the hygiene and health promoter assistant.
Coordinate with the WASH Coordinator in implementing the project’s common activities in order to ensure integrity in the quality of World Vision’s Health programs intervention
Identify, assess, and respond health and WASH (water, sanitation, and hygiene) needs among Syrian refugees families residing in tented settlements.
Conduct WASH /health needs assessments, WASH/health technical assessments, distributions, and health and hygiene promotion sessions
Conduct mapping, assessment and documentation of the existing health services for Syrian refugees
Arrange trainings to WVL staff ,WASH Committees and health care providers on a referral mechanism for health services
Document and report on conducted activities to ensure that needs assessed are being effectively responded to and that interventions are being documented
Provide capacity building training for health care providers to support service provision
Mobilise communities to increase ownership and maintenance of WASH facilities such as the creation and support of WASH/ hygiene committees, organising monthly community clean up days
Supervise the delivery, distribution, and implementation of (WASH) and health interventions in tented settlements
Arrange and deliver health and hygiene promotion sessions to raise health and hygiene standards and practices among targeted communities
Implement health and hygiene promotion initiatives appropriate to the context ensuring the technical and social aspects of water and sanitation programming are integrated.
Educate people about key aspects of health and hygiene in a culturally appropriate manner
Ensure all work is carried out as per the community needs and project standards
Timing implementation of project interventions to the target beneficiaries, while continually learning and adjusting the operational approaches.
II – Capacity Building
Forging relationships with people in the community in order to get the message across.
Identify natural leaders within the target communities and train and mentor them to be ‘Community health and WASH Focal Points’ (e.g. Health care providers, Community Hygiene Promoters, WASH Committee Members).
Provide active and ongoing technical oversight to ‘Community health and WASH Focal Points’.
Monitor the WASH and health issues within target communities through the ‘Community WASH Focal Points’, as well as directly through spot checks and assessments.
Mobilize, motivate and encourage potential leaders to talk to their fellow community members about good health and hygiene practices.
Develop trust, tolerance and co-operation among community members.
Active and effective ‘Community WASH Focal Points’ (e.g. Community Hygiene Promoters, WASH Committee Members) are addressing the WASH needs of their own communities.
III - Assessing Risks
Identify and assess public health and hygiene risks and needs
Report areas of concern to the WASH (Water and Sanitation Hygiene) coordinator.
Public Health risks are quickly identified and a mitigation plan is put in place to address them.
IV- Networking
Collaborate with a number of other agencies, including local authorities and international aid workers during the implementation of WASH programs.
WASH interventions are well coordinated to reduce inefficiencies.
V – Reporting
Provide daily, weekly, and monthly reports to WASH coordinator on project progress against work plan.
Document and share lessons learned with the WASH coordinator local community members, and local stakeholders.
Project progress is regularly and accurately reported to Project Manager for decision making and accountability
VI- Perform other duties as required
Security management responsibilities:
Responsible of the day-to-day security management
Abide by the security procedures and policies and report any breaches
Participate in personal safety training as required
HEA responsibilities:
- Be aware of emergency procedures in a response,
Other duties:
Attend and participate in capacity building trainings locally and internationally if any
Attend and participate in WVL’s spiritual nurture events and other organizational events
Perform other relevant tasks as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Bachelor’s degree in a WASH and health related field (Preferred: Public Health, Nursing, Teaching etc.) or a Bachelor’s degree in another field with 2 years complimentary WASH and health experience.
Good organizational and time management skills.
Good written and oral communication skills (English & Arabic)
Proven ability to build capacity of partners/ stakeholders through formal trainings and informal job shadowing and mentoring
Ability to monitor work of project-hired contractors
Good interpersonal skills
Must have cross-cultural sensitivity, problem solving and negotiation skills.
Must have a genuine concern to help the Syrian Refugees
Good team building skills; a creative, innovative, and adaptability personality.
Ability to cope and work under pressure.
Ability to maintain performance expectations in diverse cultural and difficult / sensitive contexts.
Ability to spend 100% of job in the field
Ability to review and write reports
Ability to manage data effectively
Has strong knowledge of core principles of Children Rights, Participation, Do No Harm, as well as Children in Emergencies minimum standards.
Has strong knowledge about WASH distribution
A valid driver's license for more than one year
