Duties and Responsibilities:
Contribute towards the verification and compilation of MRM CAAC incidents, analysis of trends in grave violations, and contribute towards the timely drafting of reporting obligations on children and armed conflict including under Security Council Resolutions 1612, 1882, and 1998.
Contribute to the availability of accurate, complete and up-to-date information required for effective programme and project design to prevent and respond to grave violations against children in armed conflict including through, implementation, management, monitoring and evaluation.
Enhance project efficiency and effectiveness through implementation follow-on, including monitoring UNICEF inputs, local conditions and resources, flow of supply and non-supply assistance and Child Protection project status.
Analyze collected data and information and prepare progress reports; draft changes in Child Protection project work plans and assist in identification of required supplies and equipment as well as in the drafting of Country Programme Recommendation and other project documentation, assuring accuracy and consistency with established rules, regulations and plans of action.
Ensure the appropriateness of financial, administrative and supply documentation; verify that Child Protection project expenditures are within allotments and that data is consistent with the project information and database (e.g., FLS, ProMS). Follow up on queries or initiate corrective action on discrepancies. Support maintenance of information system for monitoring gender/sex aggregated data.
Use and adapt Child Protection in Armed Conflict training and orientation materials to promote knowledge sharing with all relevant stakeholders with donors and media.
Ensure effective communication and networking developed, both internally and externally, and maintained through partnership and collaboration.
Promote the organisational goals of UNICEF through advocacy and policy dialogue through active engagement in communication, networking and participation at every opportunity inside and outside UNICEF, leveraging the strength of UNICEF mission, goals and programmes.
Coordinates with Operations and Supply staff on supply and non-supply assistance activities ensuring proper and timely UNICEF accountability. Certified disbursement of funds, monitors and submits financial status reports to management in compliance with the regulations and guidelines.
Required qualifications:
Education
University degree in the social sciences, law or child development.
Work Experience
One year of relevant professional work experience, specifically in the area of child rights monitoring, and preferably in the area of children affected by armed conflict.
Language Proficiency
Fluency in English and local languages, Dari and/or Pashto.
